The W-1000 converts a Sunnen machine to accept any brand of two stone mandrels rather than a single stone which Sunnen uses. In addition, Sunnen supplies a tiny abrasive stone along with a great number of other parts to comprise one mandrel assembly. All brands of two stone mandrel assemblies are made up of only two parts, the mandrel and the two massive stones. See comparisons below.

Example: To hone a 1-3/8" bore 10" long, you would require the following parts to do the job with a Sunnen hone:

1- 3G-P28-1375WC Mandrel
1- 3G-P28 Tension Block
1- 3G-P28 Retainer Block

3- P28 Stones
1- 3G-P28 Wedge

To hone the same bore with a two stone mandrel,
all you would require is:

1- 1-3/8" Mandrel
1- 1-3/8" Stone Set
